This sounds like a great program, Linda. It’s right up the alley of the (mostly U.S.-based) small and midsized businesses our nonprofit honors each year as part of our top small company workplaces award.

One interesting stat I’ll share of applicants that just got done applying in January for our 2010 award: the average tuition reimbursement amount, annually per employee, is $2550 USD among those that offer this benefit. I think the transformative power in greater productivity were more of those dollars to go toward something like this, vs. individual career development (which of course is also very important) would really help on a macro scale in economy-building.

Thanks again for sharing this. I’m adding your blog to my feed.
