Why is Impact and Influence Important?

Influence is the capacity of having an effect on someone, or something. In organizations, it is the power of producing results through others. The success of your project—and the course of your career—depends on your ability to influence people to get things done.

This highly interactive workshop provides an overview of developing influence, power and impact (drawn from research and executive coaching frameworks) to help you have more impact as a leader. This workshop is based in part on the works of Golson, Kotter, Goldsmith and Maxwell.

Topics

  • 10 keys to influencing
  • 10 Influencing strategies: Advantages and pitfalls
  • Assessing your impact & influence skills
  • How to “sell” your ideas
  • Guidelines for effectively influencing upper management
  • Guidelines for influencing co-workers, or team members
  • Developing your brand: Increasing your visibility and improving credibility
  • Understanding others and how you can persuade, influence and have a positive impact
  • How to exercise the power and influence you need to get things done through others when your responsibilities exceed your formal authority.

This workshop involves image-making, mapping and dialogue, coach-like conversations, strategic thinking and self-assessments on influence and impact.
