Getting Smart about Intellectual Property
Aug 8th, 2008 by Linda Naiman
What will you do with the innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship that your leadership skills foster in your organization’s employees?
Catherine Mutala, a senior partner at Oyen Wiggs Green & Mutala LLP (a firm that limits its practice to intellectual property matters), will outline the different intellectual property rights (IPRs) at our Leadership Forum Sept 17, 2008, and explain how these assets can be obtained, maintained and utilized to create economic value for your organization. She will discuss the requirements for obtaining and maintaining the main types of intellectual property – trademarks, copyrights, patents, trade secrets and industrial designs.
She will touch on how organizations can make effective use of their IPRs while ensuring that this use does not infringe the IPRs of others. Most importantly, Catherine will highlight some of the common pitfalls and misconceptions associated with IPRs and will provide tips to ensure that your organization does not jeopardize its creative assets. Catherine’s session will, in short, help you get smart about your intellectual property.
