Facilitated by Linda Naiman
Explore the process of painting as a means of slowing down, becoming present to the moment, listening to music with all your senses and then painting the music you hear. In the process you will learn about colour, form, composition and creative expression. By awakening your senses through music and art, you will nourish your creativity and replenish your soul.
This workshop is inspired by Kandinsky, who revolutionized the art world through his spiritual quest to express inner feeling rather than outer reality in his paintings of music. His book, Concerning the Spiritual in Art (1914) is considered the most influential treatise on art theory of the 20th century—and has impacted the development of abstract art since.
No artistic experience is necessary for you to enjoy this process.

More about Kandinsky (Thanks to FB friend Zara Daniels)
Kandinsky viewed the power of the “spiritual”, the inner voice, as the ultimate authority. From childhood on he had possessed a highly-pronounced capacity to absorb impressions “so intensively and continuously that I felt as if my chest would burst, an breathing became difficult.” His sensibility was so strongly developed that at times he felt crammed to excess with feelings and emotions, and looked with envy upon civil servants “who, after work, may and can relax completely”. I had, however, to see continuously.” This capacity for profound inner experience formed the inspirational source of Kandinsky’s work. (Kandinsky, Ulrike Becks-Malorny)
Testimonials
August Series
I love the art of painting but my point of contact was solely as an observer or consumer not a creator. The concept of picking up a brush and schmearing paint on paper was completely outside my realm. Linda’s painting workshop changed that. With just a touch of instruction and a ton of inspiration Linda truly facilitated my experiencing the creating of art.
While the result may not be gallery material it does not diminish the impact of the experience. I had the experience of painting, I had the experience of creating my art and….. I had great fun in the process. In the process I discovered that I do have the capacity to be still, to listen to the stirrings inside and create my art from that point. Thank you Linda, this workshop series was an 11 out of 10!

July Workshop
Painting is a new form of creative expression for me. I come from a background of piano and singing. Grew up in a very practical, loving, sociable, creative and musical family. I was seen as the pianist, not the singer and I certainly couldn’t draw. My Dad was a wonderful artist. I was never discouraged at home but just never thought about Art other than music. The last workshop was so revealing to me, particularly how music influences our paintings. I always felt how music moved us but never connected it to painting. It was beautiful. Thank you for doing this workshop again.

I was lucky to participate in your workshop in July, it was a wonderfull experience. Now I have my pictures on the wall and they uplift my spirit whenever I am looking in that direction. I realized instantly that they change my living room …in a very good way…very subtle and powerful at the same time. Strange to say that all the people coming in my apartement felt the same thing. It is very refreshing, energizing and it gives me hope, just watching how the pictures change people’s mood, for everybody not just for me…strange indeed…magic. Thank you for sharing your work with us…I really enjoyed the workshop.

I was in joy the whole time after years of denying myself the pleasure of putting paint to paper and just playing (or so I thought). For if, as Linda points out, once you give your essence within permission to come out of hiding it’s amazing what you learn about yourself. The biggest revelation on a deep, deep level for me was to realize just how much of a gift the dark/shadow side has been to me in my life. I had only seen sparks from its wisdom previously. Thank you Linda.

Through her passion, energy, thoughtful reflection and skillful structuring of experience, Linda is able to lead others to explore their creativity and learn how to ignite the spark for themselves. Learn to play and surprise yourself with new directions.
— Lynn Corrigan
I have done some work with Linda and she is excellent in connecting the creative process and self in a way that is fun, deeply reflective and thought provoking.

After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music
